What project-diada.org collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. Short version: as little as we can manage, and we do not sell any of it.
Who is responsible
Ethan Parker operates project-diada.org (project-diada.org) and is responsible for personal data collected through it. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
When you read
Reading an article requires no account and no personal details. Our server records standard technical information — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — as almost every web server does. This is used for security and to keep the site running.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read and how people arrive. This tells us that an article was read a thousand times; it does not tell us who you are. We do not use analytics data to build profiles of individuals, and we do not combine it with any other information about you.
When you contact us
If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to act on what you have told us — a correction, for example. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful, and correction reports longer, because the record of what was fixed matters.
Please do not send us clinical information about yourself or anyone else. We are not clinicians, we cannot act on it, and it is not information we want to hold.
Comments and subscriptions
If the site offers commenting or a newsletter, participating means giving us the details required for that feature. Both are optional, and you can withdraw at any time.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data. Not to anyone, at any price.
- We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not build advertising profiles from what you read.
- We do not track what you read across other websites.
- We do not collect health information about you, and we do not want it.
This matters more on a mental health site than most places. What someone reads about depression or anxiety is sensitive, and we treat it that way by not collecting it.
Who else processes data
Some data necessarily passes through service providers — our web host, our email provider, our analytics provider. They process it on our instructions to deliver the service, not for their own purposes. We choose providers with that in mind, and we disclose them here rather than hiding them in a list of “trusted partners”.
Your rights
Whatever your location, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 3 working days.
Depending on your state of residence you may have rights to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in US state privacy laws.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and access to any data we hold is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, which is another reason we collect as little as possible.
Children
project-diada.org is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
