A McDonald’s employee in Nashville, Tennessee, is accused of pulling a knife on a customer and waving it in her face after telling her to “go and die, fat b—,” according to police.
Cedric Johnson, 38, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon over the Sept. 23 incident at a McDonald’s on Vantage Way Court, according to an affidavit obtained by local NBC affiliate WSMV.
The confrontation started just before midnight, when a dispute in the drive-thru line carried over into the restaurant itself, police say.
The customer went inside looking for a manager to complain about what had happened at the drive-thru. Instead, according to the affidavit, she ran into Johnson.
“The defendant told the customer to ‘go and die, fat b—,’ then produced a knife from his right pants pocket and wielded it in front of her, in a circular motion,” the affidavit states.
The woman told investigators the gesture scared her enough that she stepped back and called police right away. Johnson, for his part, reportedly gave a different account of the incident.
Johnson admitted to police that he took out the knife, according to the affidavit, but said he only did so because the customer was recording him on her phone. He allegedly told officers he “wielded the knife, without saying anything more to her.”
The customer disputed that timeline, telling police she didn’t start filming until after Johnson had already brandished the weapon, the affidavit says. No one was physically hurt during the confrontation.
Johnson was arrested and charged last week. He’s due back in court on Nov. 20.
