Two people are facing charges in Memphis after police say a man was shot and beaten so badly that several of his teeth were knocked out, all over money he allegedly owed to someone else.
Bailey Jobin, 23, and Joseph Polk, 20, were each charged with aggravated robbery, according to Shelby County court records reviewed by Law&Crime. Polk is also facing additional charges, including employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000.

According to an affidavit of complaint, the victim told police he got into a vehicle Wednesday with Polk, Jobin, and a third man he didn’t recognize. The group then drove him to a house on Pope Street in Memphis.
Investigators say Jobin played a key role in setting up the encounter, described in the affidavit as “orchestrating the luring” of the victim by convincing him to ride along in the car. She sat in the backseat next to him while the two men rode up front.
When they arrived at the address, another man pulled up separately. That man was reportedly owed money by the victim over a vehicle, and he pulled the victim from the car and demanded payment on the spot.
Police say the victim was then forced to strip naked and ordered into the backyard. He refused, telling the men, “You’re going to have to kill me here,” according to the affidavit.
That’s when Polk allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the right thigh. Two other men then began punching him in the head, knocking out several of his teeth in the process, authorities say.
Before leaving, the suspects reportedly took the victim’s cellphone.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, and the Memphis Police Department opened an investigation. Deputies later interviewed him and pieced together the sequence of events described above.
Authorities have not released any update on his current condition.
Jobin and Polk are due back in court on Monday.
